Project 1: Famous People, Familiar Faces (Diagrammatic Abstraction)

          For this project, we are to separate into group of 5. Each group is assigned to one building designed by famous architects around the world. My group is given Barcelona Pavilion by Mies van der Rohe.

          We are then to produce a complete set of architectural drawings. We are also required to investigate and formulate our findings into a set of 10 models. 

          Through this project, I am able to understand the design characteristics of the particular architect. I am also able to identify design elements of buildings better.

Project 2a: Introduction to Site Analysis + Pavilion @ National Botanical Garden Shah Alam

          For this project, we went to National Botanical Garden in Shah Alam. We are to conduct a sit analysis of the physical context both at a macro & micro level of the overall site.

          Then, we are split into group of  2's to design a pavilion that fits the site. We are given a small section of National Botanic Garden and then we are to chose a place to build our pavilion.

          Through this project, we learned how to conduct a site analysis. We also understood the importance of fully using all the elements present at the particular site and incorporate it into the design.

Project 2b: Retreat House @ National Botanical Garden Shah Alam

          This project is a continuation of project 2a. We are required to design a retreat house that fits into the site we chose in the same area we were given in Project 2a. 

          A retreat house is a house that offers quiet and peace to the users. It should also allow users to appreciate the nature around them. We were given 150 square meters to design a retreat house that houses bedroom, kitchen, bathroom, living room etc...

          Through this project, I understand that the spacial organization of a house is very important. I am also able to learn how to bring the element of the exterior into the interior and reverse.
